This session explores what research tells us about transitions from school to post-school destinations for students with intellectual disabilities. Drawing on studies of school staff perspectives and student experiences in inclusive higher education, the presentation highlights key factors that support readiness for further/higher education, training and employment. Attention is given to Self-Determination Theory and the importance of autonomy, competence and relatedness in shaping positive progression pathways
