A few updates from Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) for the Guidance Sector

NEW Website for QQI

Quality and Qualifications Ireland has a new website! In December QQI launched a new website with details of its work on quality assurance and qualifications. We would love your feedback on all aspects.

Updated version of the NFQ now available !

The ten level National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) has been updated to reflect recent changes in the education and training sector such as the establishment of the Technological Universities and the development of new professional awards. The updated diagram clearly shows how General Education Awards, Further Education and Training and Higher Education Awards are mapped against the 10 levels of the framework.

Their updated video is a useful resource to share with students to watch the different qualifications available in Ireland. Knowing that a qualification is a recognised qualification is essential.

NEW Irish Register of Qualifications

QQI has also introduced a new Irish Register of Qualifications (IRQ).

This is an official register of qualifications recognised on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ).  
The register, still in development, lists qualifications at all 10 levels on the NFQ.  Currently, approximately 8,750 qualifications, 374 providers and 11,850 programmes are listed.

Guidance professionals, funding bodies, national and international learners and recognition services can use it to search, check and verify programmes and qualifications.

The register also has a role in making Irish qualifications more visible in Europe.  We are delighted to announce the IRQ is linked to the Qualifications Dataset Register on the Europass platform and we encourage guidance professionals and learners to take a look.  Complementary to the IRQ, the Qualifax website continues to support learners, their parents and the guidance community with detailed and additional course information.
