Compliance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA.

We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader
(including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
  • We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 level AA.
Partially conformant means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

There are areas we still find are not as accessible as we wish, these include:

  • It is not yet possible to change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • Alt text or a similar solution is not yet in place for ALL images that convey meaning
  • SOME main menu items are implemented incorrectly. A Vertical pipe character ("|") is being used within menu items to achieve visual separation, this may affect user experience.
