Euro-Quest Pilot Development

The National Centre for Guidance in Education (NCGE) is seeking Guidance Counsellors and TY Coordinators assistance in the further development of a pilot for a TY programme called Euro-Quest.

WHAT IS IT?
Euro-Quest is a short programme which is designed to give Transition Year students an opportunity to explore the idea of studying abroad for a semester, an academic year, or for an entire degree. This programme has been informed and adapted from feedback received directly from Guidance Counsellors.

WHAT'S NEEDED?
NCGE are looking for Guidance Counsellor and TY Coordinator input into the final development of the module content in order to ensure that Euro-Quest is incorporated into the Whole School Guidance Framework - promoting cooperation between the Guidance Counsellor, TY Coordinator and other relevant staff.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?
Students will engage with a WebQuest model of learning. There are five online modules which the students can access in school or at home through a dedicated NCGE / Euorguidance Ireland learning portal. A cross-curricular workbook will accompany the modules with optional exercises to support their learning.

OUTCOME
On completion of the module, the students will have reflected on their aspirations to study abroad and will have gathered the research tools to explore courses in other EU countries of potential interest to them.
It is a short, flexible, adaptable programme which has been created to be used either by itself or integrated with a combination of subjects, for example Languages, History, Geography, Business. It can be run by one or more either guidance counsellors or teachers who may be doing a course module with a European theme.

If your school is interested in participating in this development work, please contact the Euroguidance Desk at NCGE by clicking on the link below before the 12th of February.
