Mobility Study visit to Ireland 2025
In May 2025, we welcomed fifteen European guidance colleagues to Ireland from ten European countries (Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, Estonia, France, Norway, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden). The theme of the study visit was ‘Inclusive Guidance’.
- The study visit took place in the Liberties College, City of Dublin Education and Training Board (ETB)
- Dr. Mary Quirke facilitated a Universal Design workshop exploring how guidance professionals can adopt the Universal Design (UD) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approaches in their practice and adopt a Universal Design in Guidance mindset
- Des Acton from Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID) facilitated a session on ‘Access and Inclusion in Guidance’
- Julieanne Duffy Gillen from Technological University (TU) Dublin facilitated a session on guidance in the deaf community
Mobility Study visit to Ireland 2024
Thirteen colleagues representing six European countries including the Netherlands, Estonia, France, Spain, Norway, Germany, and Denmark visited Dublin in May 2025. The theme of the study visit was ‘Lifelong Career Guidance – A Future Vision’.

- Guidance service collegaues from City of Dublin Education and Training Board (ETB) provided an information session on guidance services in the Further Education and Training (FET)
- Dr. Mary Quirke, Dr Patricia McCarthy, Des Acton and Conor McGuirk presented on Access, Inclusion and Universal Design in Guidance in the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID)
- Aisling Murray Fleming from Dublin City University (DCU) gave an overview of DCU’s Guidance Counselling Programme and digital tools in guidance, including a tour of DCU’s Virtual Reality lab.
- Participants got a tour of Dublin Dun Laoghaire Education Training Board (DDLETB) training centre in Baldoyle
- Dr. Carol Guildea provided a session on the Strategic Framework for Lifelong Guidance
- Stephen O’Neill, Chief Psychologist in City of Dublin Education Training Board psychological service provided a session on ‘Self-Care for You – Minding Your Mind’
